Me and my homegirl Amanda Thomas at the ill-fated Cornetto event

Amanda and I did the Cornetto ad together back in October. This polaroid was taken at the Cornetto summer event in Auckland where we sprang 2000 ice creams on an unsuspecting public.

Murphy's Law dictates that whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and this day was no exception. We were caught in a wind tunnel between the downtown harbour and Britomart which caused our portable tent to blow over, and then the rain came. To top it all off, the ice creams melted in their freezer.

Two hours in, only 500 Cornettos had left the building.

A little enthusiasm goes a long way, and after accepting our saturated, windblown fate, we turned up the music and danced around like whirling dervishes forcing ice creams on anybody who glanced our way. By 3:00pm, we'd run out.

There's a certain sense of achievement that comes from overcoming obstacles, and after giving out 1500 Cornettos in 60 very wet minutes, we all felt like winners. I have new-found respect for promo boys and girls. They've got it extra tough.

We can count ourselves lucky there were no camel/manel toe inducing lycra bodysuits in the mix.
