U2's 360 degree stadium, after the show
U2 played With or Without You in their second encore, then finished with a song I'd never heard before. When they finally left the stage to a full standing ovation, the lights came on and the stadium emptied to the sound of Elton John's Rocket Man.
The Milky Way
Towards the end of the show, Bono had all the stadium's lights turned off and instructed everybody in the audience to pull out their cellphones to create The Milky Way.
U2 on stage during One Tree Hill
Bono is the most energetic frontman I've ever seen play. The man is 50 years old and he still runs, jumps, swings and lunges like a teenager. He dedicated One Tree Hill to the Pike River miners, saying, "People have all different ways of dealing with grief – in anger, silence and pain. In Ireland, we sing."
HOVA HOVA HOVA HOVA HOVA!
Jay Z was so good. Although this photo gives the impression that there weren't too many people there to see him play, the standing area was packed out. He started with Run this Town – "All Black Everything", and followed it up with Diamonds are Forever – "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business...man, let me handle my business damn". My favourites were Hustler Baby and Dirt off Your Shoulder – he brushed it off. No sign of Beyonce, but there's always tonight.
Take your diamonds and throw 'em up like you're bulimic
Seconds before Jay Z came on, his Roc-A-Fella band whipped the crowd into a frenzy throwing up their diamonds.
U2's 360 degree stadium, 8 minutes before the show
I bought tickets for tonight's U2/Jay Z concert, but on Wednesday Zambesi's Dayne Johnston got the hook up: two tickets on opening night, courtesy of U2's publicist, who just happens to be a Kiwi and a personal friend of his. We were sitting four rows from the front in the West Stand. Holla!

Jay Z's driving an Audi, U2's driving an Audi, I figured I'd better get in on the action
So after I blogged about Jay Z borrowing the brand new Audi Q7 while he's in town, Audi New Zealand called me up and asked me if I'd like an A3 to drive around for the week. I said yes. Turns out U2 are borrowing a set of Audis too. Baller! Special thanks to Gemma at Audi NZ for the hook up!
I LIKE YOU!
